Our Story..........................................................
Owners Wolfgang, from Germany, and Cassie, a native Austinite, met on a family friend’s yacht in Mallorca Spain, where Wolfgang was working as the Private Chef. The two shared a common passion of music and food checking out both local scenes while in Spain. After coming to the U.S. to visit Cassie, Wolfgang fell in love with Austin, and a year later they were married. Wolfgang had been working towards his own restaurant since his apprenticeship years at the famous Burg Hornberg Castle, and just before the couple’s first year anniversary, Fabi + Rosi opened, May 2009. The name came from Wolfgang’s nephew and niece, Fabio, 6 yrs old and Rosalie, 3 yrs old. He had planned on calling it “Fabio’s”, however in America that name has a different connotation, so Rosalie’s nick- name was added and both kids were very excited.
The cuisine at Fabi + Rosi is classic European comfort food with a young and modern twist. Sustainability and sourcing local, seasonal, all-natural/ organic provisions is top priority in the kitchen. Most of the meat is from farms like Countryside Farm in Bastrop. The cage-free eggs come from Soncrest Farm in Gonzales. Much of the produce is from “Farm to Table” and the Hope Farmer’s Market. We compost, and recycle as much as possible and use an ecological service for other disposal. A large garden has been planted behind the restaurant with veggies, fruits, herbs and flowers. We also have begun raising our own chickens for eggs. The house that F+R stands in is a Craftsman bungalow built in 1903. The interior, both warm and inviting, modern and crisp, was designed and installed by Cassie with help from family and friends. We invite you to come in and be our guest, we greatly appreciate your visit!
